The national competition was held on September 21, 1997
at the
Sheraton Grand Hotel in Tampa, Florida.
More than 400 products from over 70 manufacturers were vying for top prizes in several specific categories.
The panel of more than 200 judges was comprised of a cross-section
of the specialty food industry with retailers, buyers, manufacturers and distributors
casting their votes.
